There are a lot of myths about hosting websites
for Chinese and indexing them in popular search engines such as Baidu.com. Most
of them are false (will need an article about Myths) but there is some odd
thing about hosting websites which is ultimately true. It is the location of
hosting server. A foreigner might be wonder about this fact, but it is true. As
most of ISPs (internet service providers) in China have optimized for local
traffic and have minimal support towards the foreign servers. Therefore if you
host your website in a foreign territory it will very slowly load into the web browser
of your Chinese visitors. Due to this fact, Chinese search engines usually do
not give priority for the websites hosted in foreign territory. The other thing
the people will not be patient to wait until your website be loaded. (Need an
article about slow website and user responses.) If you keep arguing about this
fact which I learnt with mine and my friends’ bitter experiences keep doing so.
However if you want to host your website in territory in China, you have two
option.
Hosting in Mainland China (Little bit
complicated)
This is the best option, but still you need
to go some extra mile. You need business licenses in China. If you have one,
there are cheap services which help you apply permission for website and also
host your website in main land of China. (sinohosting.net*, is probably one of English
support hosting service in China, they help you to apply for hosting permission
for 800 yuan if you already have business license in China)
Hosting in Hongkong (Super easy and still
have the same advantage)
You can host your website in Hongkong and
it does not need permission from authority. But Hongkong has super fast
connectivity with main land and your website will be quickly loaded to Chinese
visitors and also be given priorities in search engines such as Baidu.com (I
have tried eznow.com*, use their free website builder. You can use two of your
domain names and build websites using drag and drop method very easily and
economically)
